Kicking off Summer by Giving Back

I love rolling my sleeves up and getting involved with a good cause. It’s the reason I pursued becoming the Ambassador for the Collette Foundation’s Fiji project. I also enjoy helping close to home too — which is why I was so excited to hear that my department at Collette, the Tour Manager department, would be enjoying a charitable afternoon together. Team building and giving back – there’s no better way to start off the summer in my opinion!
Last week the Rhode Island Food Bank held their summer kick-off and our department was delighted to get involved. Collette offers 4 paid hours of community service a month which makes it extra easy to help out often — and boosts company morale as well. When we arrived at the food bank, we saw that there were volunteers from other local companies as well — so a lot of work got done that day. Our group was there for three hours, and we were divided into two groups — cans and grain. To make things interesting, we had a friendly competition to see who could collect the most weight and variety of items. At the end we lost track but it was one of those situations where everyone was a winner. We collected over three tons of food!
It’s such a great way to break up the daily routine with your team and do something that makes you feel so good afterwards. It was a great time for all.
It is so great to see Collette Employees coming together for such a great cause. Keep up the great work!! Can’t wait to see what the other departments do!!
Thank you for the comment, Joshua. Team building volunteering is becoming quite popular at Collette – I am sure there will be more stories in this vein so keep checking back!
What a great company to work for! I will definitely be keeping Collette in mind for a future vacation!
Thank you, April!
